The hacktivist group v_0 first appeared publicly in early 2015 when they interrupted a live WNN broadcast, during which all on-screen text was replaced by characters "v_0" and the broadcast's audio was replaced with a spoken message: "Corruption, slaughter, and oppression are the symptoms of a world consumed by the cancer of deception, greed and censorship. We are the cure, the truth, the unsilencable voice. We are the fruit of knowledge and discord. We are the Muses who bring forth enlightenment. We are the Dirae who salt the Earth with the blood of tyrants. We are the consequence. We are the futre. We are watching." astr0 is a former member of the hacking group NC0G. Rumors allege that astr0 was a young, prodigious teenager when he joined the group in 2006. In 2008, astr0 allegedly left Anonymous because he believed the group was too public and lenient.

Sometime in 2009, he founded the hacking group V14_R0MA, where he was known as 4u6u_57u5. The group avoided detection for a period of two years, during which they funneled a total of $10.5 million USD from major US corporations by exploiting vulnerabilities in the software of several major banks. The stolen money was allegedly spread across various charities in small amounts using a number of false identities. After its discovery, V14_R0M4 allegedly disbanded.

Arlington vanished in 2010 while on bail. There was no paper trail, digital or otherwise. After extensive questioning, it was determined that noone who contacted Arlington during his bail period was aware of his plans to flee, although some believe he may have been abducted and/or killed by a criminal associate. Other rumors have surfaced of partnership with v_0.
